Safety Threat Investigator, Safety Investigations

Investigates serious safety threats on the Roblox platform, including child exploitation, violent extremism, organized fraud, compromised accounts and coordinated abuse. The Safety Investigations team's Core Investigations capability handles repeatable, high-sensitivity matters, and the role escalates cases needing deeper attribution or cross-platform work to Specialized Investigations.

What you'd do

• Run sensitive cases end to end, from intake to a documented outcome.
• Define questions, scope, hypotheses, evidence plans and exit criteria for ambiguous or sensitive matters.
• Gather, preserve and corroborate evidence while keeping provenance and auditability intact.
• Map account, entity and timeline linkages and decide when a case needs deeper attribution or network analysis.
• Escalate cases to Specialized Investigations or partner with them on attribution, cross-platform or external actionability.
• Prepare case summaries and standardized work product for Legal, Safety Intelligence, Law Enforcement Operations or NCMEC.
• Spot recurring problems and turn them into suggested changes for Policy, Product, Engineering and Detection.

What it asks for

• Four or more years investigating severe safety, abuse, fraud, security or threat cases.
• Experience using SQL and/or Python with large datasets.
• Experience with open-source intelligence in an investigative context.
• Experience with attribution, entity linkage, network analysis or cross-platform research.
• Ability to separate facts, inferences, allegations and conclusions in written work product.
• Strong written and verbal communication for investigators, leadership, Legal and Engineering audiences.
• Demonstrated mentorship or subject-matter expertise for other investigators (preferred).

Worth knowing

• May require reviewing graphic, controversial and offensive content under company handling policies.
• On-call rotation during weekends and holidays.
