Roblox

Roblox is an online game platform and game creation system developed by Roblox Corporation that allows users to program and play games created by themselves or other users. Games are built with Roblox Studio, the platform's game engine, and the platform hosts millions of user-created games. Roblox is free-to-play, with in-game purchases made through its virtual currency, Robux. Through its Developer Exchange program, creators can exchange earned Robux for real-world currency.

Roblox was developed by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel in 2004 and released to the public in 2006. The platform has reported an average of 85.3 million daily active users as of February 2025. According to the company, its monthly player base includes half of all American children under the age of 16.

Before founding Roblox, Baszucki and Cassel worked for Knowledge Revolution, a company that made educational and physics simulation software. Roblox was first known as DynaBlocks.
