The T&S Network estimates this role to be M1, Supervisor / Team Lead. Key skills at this level: reads queue health from the metrics and knows which ones lie, balances accuracy, throughput and wellbeing as one problem, and runs a shift against demand that spikes without warning.
Why this level
Estimated from the posting rather than stated by the employer: the posting states the level in its title · asks for 5+ years · the title reads as M1.
The role, in T&S terms
Written by the T&S Network from SpaceXAI's posting.
Leads a team of analysts working child sexual exploitation and CSAM cases across X and Grok products, including AI-generated content, and owns the NCMEC reporting decisions made from that work. The role sits in the Safety team's Child Safety area, and the posting frames it as the highest-stakes part of that team.
What you'd do
- Lead the Austin-based Child Safety analyst team, including senior analysts, across morning and night shifts and SLAs.
- Handle complex, urgent and high-profile escalations, including accounts and incidents from Grok and other SpaceXSI products.
- Own NCMEC report, suspension and bounce decisions, and decide when cases go to Legal.
- Align with Safety leaders, lawyers, engineers and policy staff on high-profile cases and the follow-up tasks they generate.
- Run the team's response to viral incidents and emerging abuse trends, including sweeps and fast escalation of patterns.
- Tune classifiers and Grok enforcement with program leads, watching for false positives and accounts repeatedly suspended and reinstated.
- Lead operational model evaluations, audits and labeling of CSE data used to improve Grok's detection.
What it asks for
- Proven expertise identifying, investigating and preventing CSAM and CSE, including grooming and risks in AI-generated content.
- Working knowledge of NCMEC reporting obligations and industry standards for protecting minors.
- Hands-on use of SQL, Python or LLMs to analyze operational data.
- Ability to apply safety policy with judgment against free expression.
- Active X and Grok user.
- Experience with red-teaming LLMs and jailbreaks (preferred)
Worth knowing
- Exposure to sensitive or graphic content, including violent threats, pornography and graphic images.
- Coverage across shifts as needed.
Terms in this role
- CSAM.
- Child sexual abuse material: images or video of the sexual abuse of children. Illegal to make, share or possess in nearly every country.
- CSEA.
- Child sexual exploitation and abuse. The wider harm area around CSAM, including grooming, sextortion and trafficking.
- NCMEC.
- The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, a US nonprofit. It runs the CyberTipline, where US-based online services must report apparent child sexual abuse material they find.
- Law enforcement response.
- Handling requests for user data from police and courts, including emergency requests where someone's life may be at risk.
- Red teaming.
- Testing a system, often an AI model, by deliberately trying to make it fail or misbehave, so problems are found and fixed first.
- Jailbreak.
- A prompt written to get an AI model to ignore its safety rules.
