The role, in T&S terms

Written by the T&S Network from Variance's posting.

Variance builds AI agents that make decisions inside fraud, risk, and identity review workflows, taking over repetitive manual reviews and investigations for enterprises in high-consequence settings. This role owns deployment and the customer relationship for those agents across accounts with marketplaces, gig platforms, fintechs, and financial institutions.

What you'd do

  • Turn customer pain points into precise requirements for agents that make decisions in fraud and risk workflows.
  • Chart how customer staff currently decide, what they push up the chain, where they stall, and which errors are unacceptable.
  • Convert a customer's investigation playbook into agent decision rules and adjust them as live edge cases surface.
  • Turn due diligence duties spanning several jurisdictions into requirements the agent must meet.
  • Build the handoff to a person for cases the agent should not decide alone.
  • Own deployment success, defining what success means per account and staying accountable through production.
  • Work with engineers to ship agents and feed cross-account patterns into the product roadmap.

What it asks for

  • Five or more years in client-facing technical work as an implementer, solutions consultant, PM, or founder.
  • Track record launching a new product from scratch and improving its quality using actual customer data.
  • Experience automating a human review or investigation workflow (preferred).
  • Understanding of compliance requirements such as KYC/KYB, BSA/AML, or sanctions screening (preferred).

Terms in this role

KYC.
Know your customer: checking who a user or business is before they can transact. Required in financial services.
AML.
Anti-money laundering: the rules and checks that stop criminal money moving through a service.
