Senior Software Engineer, Internal Fraud Platform

Builds the internal platform that ingests fraud-relevant events from Cloudflare's own billing, signup and support systems, evaluates them, and routes decisions and case data to analysts. The team targets fraudulent signups, promo and trial abuse, payment fraud, chargebacks and account takeover that cost the company revenue. It is a new team building its first software engineering foundation alongside data scientists who develop the detection models.

What you'd do

• Design and operate services and pipelines that ingest fraud events from billing, signup and support systems.
• Expose event data and contextual features that data scientists need for scoring models.
• Feed model outputs back into the pipelines and tools analysts rely on to act on flags.
• Build investigation tools and workflows for Trust & Safety, Support and Finance analysts to act on flagged accounts.
• Build fault-tolerant pipelines that avoid silently dropping or duplicating fraud signals at high volume.
• Take projects from problem definition through rollout and operation with minimal oversight.
• Translate fraud vectors raised by Trust & Safety, Billing, Support and Product into engineering requirements.

What it asks for

• At least five years of professional software engineering work, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Hands-on history running distributed systems or backend services that serve live traffic.
• Experience designing data or event pipelines such as Kafka or Pub/Sub.
• Solid grasp of REST API design, service security, and standards like OpenAPI, OAuth or JWT.
• Experience in fraud, risk, trust & safety or payments engineering (preferred).
• Familiarity with how ML models are served and how features are engineered (preferred).
