Platform Engineer, Trust and Safety

Engineering work on trust and safety for a consumer social event-planning app, detecting, investigating and mitigating phishing, spam, objectionable content, scraping and other fraud and abuse. The role sits on the engineering side of T&S and splits time between that work and product infrastructure, reliability and developer velocity.

What you'd do

• Build AI-driven systems that make real-time enforcement calls and apply policy at scale
• Create monitoring tools that surface abuse trends and help the team react to new attack methods quickly
• Monitor how protective systems affect trusted users and tune interventions to limit friction
• Translate ambiguous judgment-heavy policy calls into rules that can be enforced at scale, working with Operations
• Build enforcement tooling, escalation paths and appeal workflows for Support to use
• Participate in an on-call rotation for T&S incidents and build fixes to prevent repeats
• Design and maintain serverless, secure GCP infrastructure and backend APIs and databases

What it asks for

• 3 to 11 years of engineering experience in infrastructure, full-stack or applied machine learning, ideally at a fast-moving company
• 2+ years of trust and safety experience
• Experience building enforcement systems end to end, including detection, action pipelines, escalation and appeals
• Working knowledge of how bad actors exploit consumer social platforms
• Experience with legal, regulatory and compliance requirements for trust systems
• Hands-on experience running serverless or event-driven systems at large scale
• Comfort with TypeScript and Node.js
