How it works

The Wayback Machine stores snapshots of web pages over time. Investigators use it to retrieve content that's been deleted and to preserve a page on demand with the Save Page Now feature, which produces a timestamped, third party copy. The Internet Archive is a nonprofit; an API supports automated saves and lookups.
