How it works

PolicyKit is a research project from the University of Washington that lets a community write its own governance rules in code and have them run against the platform it lives on (Slack, Discord, Reddit and others). A rule might say "a message deletion needs three moderator votes" or "new members are admitted after a 24 hour comment period." PolicyKit intercepts the action, runs the vote or check, and then executes it via the platform's API.

It's an academic tool with a working web app, best for communities that want to experiment with democratic or procedural moderation rather than pure admin control.
