The role, in T&S terms

Written by the T&S Network from OpenAI's posting.

Senior operations work in User Safety & Risk Operations at an AI company, covering abuse, fraud, safety risks and other misuse across its products. The team takes new or ambiguous operational risks, including emerging-risk incubation, cloud deployment partnerships and device safety, and turns them into scalable operating capabilities.

What you'd do

  • Own a small number of ambiguous safety and risk problems from definition through to closing the loop.
  • Analyze user reports, case narratives, conversations and escalations alongside operational metrics to find patterns.
  • Turn one-off insights and manual work into repeatable operating mechanisms other people can run.
  • Lead sensitive investigations, incident response and launch-readiness work, including human review and escalation paths.
  • Coordinate operational monitoring and partner work for product launches and cloud deployments.
  • Coach junior operators through calibration and reusable tools.

What it asks for

  • Eight-plus years in trust and safety, investigations, incident response, product ops, TPM or a similar judgment-heavy, data-driven role.
  • Ability to make sense of messy qualitative and unstructured information alongside quantitative data.
  • Hands-on fluency with AI tools, dashboards and data tooling to prototype solutions independently.
  • Experience moving an immature workflow into stable, scaled operations (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of SQL, light scripting, no-code tools or workflow automation (preferred).
  • Experience running vendor operations, quality programs or distributed operational teams (preferred).

Worth knowing

  • Exposure to sensitive or concerning content.
