Regulatory operations work for user safety and risk: handling sensitive regulatory inquiries, complaints, and escalations under the EU DSA and EU AI Act, plus online safety rules in several regions, across OpenAI's products and developer tools. The User Operations team sits at the intersection of operations, compliance, and user trust, working with Legal, GRC, Policy, and Engineering to address legal risk, regulatory non-compliance, fraud, and abuse.

What you'd do

  • Take ownership of delicate regulator queries, audit requests, and user complaints from Europe, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific.
  • Lead the incident response on the most sensitive regulatory reviews, working with Legal to settle how standards apply.
  • Work Trust & Safety cases that touch regulatory duties, and pass privacy and IP matters like rights requests and copyright takedowns up the chain.
  • Run risk evaluations and investigations to support user safety and compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Build and maintain operational workflows, tooling, escalation playbooks, and knowledge domains for regulatory compliance.
  • Help shape vendor training and governance during transitions and ramp-up, and track case quality, SLA performance, and escalation accuracy.

What it asks for

  • 8+ years in regulatory compliance, legal operations, or trust & safety, ideally at a global or fast-scaling tech company.
  • Experience turning content moderation or online safety rules into day-to-day operational workflows.
  • Experience working alongside in-house counsel, DPOs, or outside regulators on audits, inquiries, or escalations.
  • Experience working with tiered support structures and vendor operations at scale.
  • Clear, empathetic written communication on sensitive issues.

Worth knowing

  • Exposure to sensitive or concerning content, including complaints involving harassment, fraud, or regulatory violations.
  • Background check required.

Terms in this role
