Why this level

The role, in T&S terms
Written by the T&S Network from Google's posting.
Safety launch management for new extensibility features in Chrome, covering Chrome customization primitives and extension surfaces. The role sets safety requirements and designs safety-by-design protections before launch, working with Product, Engineering, Policy and Operations to prevent downstream abuse. It sits in Google's Trust and Safety team, which fights abuse and fraud across Google products.
What you'd do
- Review the Chrome product roadmap and user journeys to set safety requirements, milestones and long-term protection strategy.
- Run pre-mortem and red teaming sessions to find potential harm vectors and propose safety-by-design fixes before launch.
- Collect and prioritize requirements to secure new experiences and build protections against downstream abuse.
- Serve as the central point between Engineering, Legal and Policy to resolve conflicts between product velocity and user safety.
- Track launch results against key safety metrics and drive improvements until the product reaches a stable state.
What it asks for
- A four-year college degree, or equivalent hands-on experience in place of one.
- Decade-plus background in analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, security, business strategy or an adjacent field.
- 6 years of direct product management of developer-focused products, tools or technology.
- Master's degree or PhD (preferred).
- Experience in Trust and Safety, cybersecurity or content moderation focused on platform abuse (preferred).
- Experience delivering complex multi-year projects across multiple global regions (preferred).
- Experience using AI/ML to automate safety reviews or detection (preferred).
Terms in this role
- Red teaming.
- Testing a system, often an AI model, by deliberately trying to make it fail or misbehave, so problems are found and fixed first.
