How it works
Project Arachnid is the Canadian Centre for Child Protection's crawler that finds and issues removal notices for known CSAM across the open web. Shield is the API they offer platforms: you send an image or video (or a hash) and it's matched against Arachnid's list of verified abuse material, including material that isn't illegal everywhere but is harmful to the child pictured. It also flags "harmful abusive" content that falls outside legal definitions.
It's free, and the list is large because it's built from crawling rather than only from reports. It's a strong complement to PhotoDNA and NCMEC lists.
