About Open Measures

Open Measures is built to help researchers analyze and monitor the spread of harmful online content, including extremism and disinformation. The organization was started by a group of academics and open-source researchers who partnered to collect OSINT data.

It is built for researchers to investigate and respond to real-world trends. Its catalog covers both alternative and mainstream social networks. A public tier is open-source and free forever via the Open Measures Public API and app.

How it works

Open Measures (formerly the Social Media Analysis Toolkit) collects posts from fringe and alternative platforms: 4chan, 8kun, Gab, Telegram channels, Bitchute, Rumble, Truth Social and more. You search by keyword, entity or hashtag, chart volume over time, and pull the underlying posts. It's how researchers and threat teams see what's building on platforms they don't monitor themselves.

There's a free tier with a public search and a paid Pro tier with API access and larger exports. It's a US based public benefit company.
