Marking deadline for generative systems already on the market
Article 50 applies whether or not a system is high-risk. If a product talks to people it has to say it is AI, and synthetic audio, image, video and text has to be marked in a machine-readable way, with deepfakes of real people disclosed by whoever deploys them. Penalties reach 15 million euro or 3 percent of worldwide turnover. Generative systems already on the market before 2 Aug 2026 have until 2 Dec 2026 to add the machine-readable marking.
Build: Machine-readable marking on generated media, and a disclosure where a person is talking to a model.
