Tattle
Indian civic technology project building open tools for studying misinformation and online abuse.
About Tattle
Tattle is a community of technologists, researchers and artists working towards a healthier online information ecosystem in India. It builds tools and datasets to understand and respond to inaccurate and harmful content. Its current projects are Uli, the Deepfakes Analysis Unit and Viral Spiral.
Uli is aimed at helping users respond to online gender based violence through localized content moderation. The Deepfakes Analysis Unit is a collaborative platform for factcheckers and media forensic experts to analyze possible deepfakes. Viral Spiral is an adaptive digital card game about sharing news on the Internet. Its team works remotely most of the time and holds a few in-person meetings, including two in Rishikesh.
Other projects include a Hindi prompt dataset built as part of ML Commons' safety benchmark. Kosh is its main archive of content scraped from sources such as fact-checking sites, social media and chat apps. Khoj indexes and searches data scraped from IFCN certified fact checking sites.
