MaxMind is a Massachusetts-based data company that provides location data for IP addresses and other data for IP addresses, and fraud detection data. It sells IP geolocation and other IP address related data under the GeoIP brand. Its products include proxy detection, which detects VPNs, proxy users, and other anonymizers. Its minFraud service screens online transactions and identifies those that are high-risk.

MaxMind was founded in 2002 by Thomas "TJ" Mather and is based in Malden, Massachusetts, United States. It began offering the minFraud service, a transactional risk analysis service, in 2004.

Companies use GeoIP data to locate their internet visitors, perform analytics, enforce digital rights, and route Internet traffic.
