Global Network Initiative

Multistakeholder standard for how tech and telecom companies answer government demands.

About Global Network Initiative

The Global Network Initiative was launched in 2008 to protect and advance freedom of expression and privacy in the information and communications technology sector, by setting a global standard for responsible decision making and acting as a multistakeholder voice against government restrictions and demands. Its principles and implementation guidelines tell companies how to build the policies and capacity to respond to government pressure, and member companies are independently assessed against them. Members include companies, civil society organizations, academics and investors.
