About Jigsaw Toxicity

This dataset consists of a large number of Wikipedia comments which have been labeled by human raters for toxic behavior. The dataset is listed under Google on Hugging Face. The dataset was created to help in efforts to identify and curb instances of toxicity online.

The dataset supports multi-label classification. The comments are in English. The threat of abuse and harassment online means that many people stop expressing themselves and give up on seeking different opinions.

How it works

The Jigsaw Toxicity dataset is the Wikipedia talk page comments (around 160,000) labeled by crowd raters for toxic, severe toxic, obscene, threat, insult and identity hate. It's the dataset behind the original Kaggle toxic comment competition and the starting point for most open toxicity models, including Detoxify.

It's dated and English, and its labels reflect Wikipedia editor culture, but it's still the most used baseline.
