The Texas App Store Accountability Act takes effect
In force now
App stores have to verify the age of everyone who downloads or buys an app, get a parent to consent for a minor, and pass the age and consent signals to developers. Despite the name the duties land on developers too, and they apply whether or not an app is aimed at children. It took effect after the Fifth Circuit stayed a preliminary injunction in November 2025.
Build: Take the age and consent signals the store passes you, and decide what your app does differently for a minor.
Who it reaches
It reaches app store, user-to-user, marketplace and 5 other service types with users in the US, at any size. Every app store serving Texas users, and the developers on it.
Lands on Product, Engineering and Legal & Regulatory.
