Oversight Board

The Oversight Board is an independent body people can appeal to when they disagree with a decision Meta has made about their content on Facebook, Instagram or Threads. It reviews whether the company acted in line with its own policies, values and human rights commitments, and can overturn or uphold the decision. Its members do not work for Meta and cannot be removed by it; Meta established an irrevocable trust in 2019 to fund it. Its published decisions and policy advisory opinions are a working record of how hard content calls get argued.
