Humane Intelligence

Humane Intelligence is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that designs and runs evaluations of AI systems. It offers AI red teaming events as a paid service. It also designs and runs contextual evaluations as a paid service. Its third program is bias bounties, which are collaboratively designed sets of challenges that bring together researchers, impacted communities, and domain experts.

Humane Intelligence was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in May 2023 under the name Bias Buccaneers. Co-founder Dr. Rumman Chowdhury developed the concept of bias bounties while working at Twitter. Mala Kumar was named Executive Director in April 2026. More than 5,600 people have taken part in its in-person and remote events across five continents. It has run more than 30 red teaming, bias bounty, and contextual evaluations.
