Detects AI generated text, sentence by sentence, for educators and publishers.

About GPTZero

GPTZero is an artificial intelligence detection software developed to identify artificially generated text, such as that produced by large language models. Its classifier provides results at the document and sentence level and assigns a confidence score to its predictions. It integrates with learning management systems including Canvas and Google Classroom. It also offers a plagiarism checker.

GPTZero was developed by Edward Tian, a Princeton University undergraduate student, and launched online in January 2023. Edward Tian is co-founder and CEO, and Alex Cui is co-founder and CTO. Its team is based in New York and Toronto. Its team page says it serves over 10 million users.

GPTZero raised $10 million in Series A funding in summer 2024. Superhuman, which develops AI-powered email software, announced that it had acquired GPTZero in June 2026.
