Appen was founded in Sydney in 1996 and started with speech and language data for early NLP systems. It is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (APX). It operates across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Philippines. Its contributor network includes over one million vetted contributors across more than 170 countries and 235 languages.
