Alibaba Group

Alibaba Group is a Chinese multinational technology company specializing in e-commerce, retail, Internet, and technology. It provides consumer-to-consumer, business-to-consumer and business-to-business sales services through Chinese and global marketplaces. It also offers local consumer, digital media and entertainment, logistics, and cloud computing services. In 2003, Alibaba launched Taobao Marketplace, offering a variety of products for retail sales.

Alibaba was founded on 28 June 1999 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Jack Ma founded Alibaba.com with 17 friends and students in his Hangzhou apartment. It owns and operates a diverse portfolio of companies around the world in numerous business sectors.

In March 2023, Alibaba reorganized its business structure into six independently run entities. The six entities include Cloud Intelligence Group, Taobao and Tmall Group, Cainiao Smart Logistics Network, Local Services group, Alibaba International Digital Commerce, and the Digital Media and Entertainment group.
